IPL Fotofacial

A photofacial or fotofacial is a beauty treatment that uses (IPL) intense pulse light to penetrate the epidermis and stimulate the dermis into creating new skin, collagen induction and decrease the hyper-pigmentation of brown dark spots or red vascular veins on or around the skin. The procedure involves minimal discomfort but has a 7-10 day mandatory downtime of no sun and reduced heat. The treatment itself can take under 30 minutes and should only be performed every 4-6 weeks minimum depending on each persons skin type and lifestyle. The treatment is not recommended during the hot or bright summertime nor for people of dark skin color as would be Asian or African Americans (Fitzpatrick 5 & 6).

Here's an easy way to understand laser treatments or IPL fotofacial or laser hair removal.

Each persons skin type is identified by your family's genetic background  The Fitzpatrick skin type

scale helps to identify your skin type by the amount of pigment or color is in your skin in relation to

where your ancestors came from.

Generally speaking

Fitz 1:    Irish

Fitz 2:   Eastern European or German

Fitz 3:   Mediterranean  or Italian

Fitz 4:   Hispanic

Fitz 5:   Asian*

Fitz 6:   African American*

* Fitz 5& 6 are not recommended to receive foto-facials. The amount of pigment within

that skin's chromosphere has too much pigment and is potentially susceptible to potential burns.

Yet laser hair removal is safe for Fitzpatrick 1 - 6.
